TUTORIAL - PETS What kind of animals can you expect in Sims2 Pets? - Cats, dogs, birds, possums and there is also a skunk visiting your sims now and then. How can I introduce pets in my family? Dogs and cats can get into your family in different ways. - Create Family: With ‘Create family you can now create your own unique pets, exactly how you like them. If your are finished creating a dog or a cat you can now let the creature live at any family you want to(in the neighborhood). Tip: When you create a pet, immediately give it a collar! If your pet should run away, you then have a chance that a nice neighbor will take your pet back to the household where it belongs. - You can also adopt a pet via the phone. Call the ‘Pet Adoption Service’ (under ‘service’). You can choose between adult cats/dogs or puppies/kittens.   You can buy other pets in the ‘Buy Mode’. - Birds: Buy a birdcage (Buy mode, miscellaneous, pets) put it where you would like it and then click on the cage to fill it with the chosen bird. - Womrat: Buy a hamster-like cage, put it on the wanted spot, click on the cage to fill it. – Fish: Buy the Mr. Maritime fishtank (decorative, miscellanious). Put it in your home, click on it to fill the tank. As far as we can tell, you cannot adopt the skunk. Do not forget to feed your pets!!! Personalities Like in ‘real’ life, you will have to take care of your pets, otherwise they will die or run away. You can teach your pets (only cats and dogs) several tricks. Just like any other real animal they do have their ‘own’ personalities: Genius – Doofus, Hyper – Lazy, Independent – Friendly, Aggressive – Cowardly, Pigpen – Finicky. Your pets have a free will, but you can train them to discourage bad (or good) behavior. For example you can reward them if they do not sleep on the Simbed. You cannot cancel the actions of your pet without cheats. You can ‘direct’ them by buying a scratching post or chew bone. You can also teach your dog/cat tricks by clicking on them and then choose ‘teach command’. You can also hire an obedience trainer (phone, services) for teaching your pet commands/tricks.   Just like your Sims, the pets also have needs. Make sure that these needs stay green. Buy a food bowl for your cat/dog, a comfy pillow or basket, a litterbox or walk your dog on a regularly basis. Wash your dog/cat in the bath.   Breed Your sims can also breed cats and dogs. The pets will give their own genes to the next generation, so your kittens/puppies will have the appearances (looks as well as personalities) of their parents. To breed you have to make sure that you have a male as well as female species of your dog/cat. You also have to take care of the relationship, it should be good between your Sim and pet, but also between the pets. And they have to be in a good mood, ofcourse! You also will need a pet house (for outside). All that done? Now you can click on one of the pets and choose ‘make puppy/kitten with…’ and choose the name of the other pet. Now your pet will be pregnant. You cannot see if your pet is pregnant, but if it’s right, you will hear the same melody as when your Sim become pregnant. Now within a few days you can expect a litter!   A job for your pet?! Yeah that’s right! You can also let your pet have a job and they will get paid too! You can choose from several jobs. You can pick from the following careers: - Showbiz, Service and Security. Just like your Sims, your pets need special skills (commands) to get promotion. When your pets get a promotion, they will not only make more money, but also new codes will be unlocked for new furcolours and collars! Tips - Are you tired of your dog or cat? You can put them up for adoption again! (phone) - Are you crazy about your pets? Make sure you take good care of them, otherwise someone of the petcontrol will come who will take ALL of your animals! - Make sure at least one of your Sims in the family has a good relationship with your dog/cat, otherwise your pet could have the tendency to walk away from home! - If your pet does walk away from home, you have a fairly big chance that he will be brought home again by a friendly neigbour, IF your pet wears a collar! If your pet does not wear a collar at that moment, make sure you report the missing pet (phone) a.s.a.p. The sooner you report the missing pet, the more chance you will have that your pet is found and brought back to you. - Give your pets the stuff they need. For example: give your cats a scratching post, to prevent them from ruining your furniture. - Is the life expectancy of your pet too short? Do you never ever want to lose him/her? Go to the aspiration rewards and feed your pet the ‘kibbles of life’.   Cheats Pets For your cat and dog: Cancel pet actions: boolprop PetActionCancel true Being in control of your pets boolprop ControlPets on Stop aging kittens and puppies boolprop DisablePuppyKittenAging true Turn off the free will of your pet boolprop PetsFreeWill false When you use ‘true’ to activate the cheat, you have to type ‘false’ to deactivate the cheat again.   Unlock codes for collars and furs for dogs and cats Usually you will unlock all kinds of furs and collars for your pets whilst playing. If you do not have the patience for that, you can use these unlock codes to get them immediately.   1.    Start your game 2.    Go to the ‘three points’ button (options) 3.    Click on the button with the (game options) 4.    Click on the key right in the screen (see picture) 5.    Now you can type in the code. If you have done this the right way, you have unlocked the collar or fur.
