TUTORIAL - OPEN FOR BUSINESS With Open For Business (OFB) you can start your own shop! You have two choices for the location of your business: 1.    A shop at home – You can reserve a part of your house especially for your shop. 2.    A shop in the city   Let’s start with a shop at home Build your house (or adapt an excisting one) and reserve a space for your business. If your home is finished, put a Sim (or family) in it. When you’re finished decorating, you can pick up the phone and choose ‘Business’ and then ‘Start home business’. Now you have to buy a cash register, a few shelves and a open/closed sign. Decorate your business just the way you like it. At the right top of the screen you will now find a blue circle with a label underneath it. Click on the lock, now you can purchase all kinds of stuff (yellow) that you can sell in your store. Click on the open/closed sign to open your store. The customers will soon arrive and will go shopping in your store! If you want to make profit, you have to make sure that the sales price is higher than the purchase price. If you don’t want customers to wander around in your house, click on the doors of your house and choose ‘Lock’. You can also hire personnel, whom you have to give a clear task (click on your employee and choose management and give them their task).  Click on the phone, choose business and then hire employees. A shop in town It’s more or less the same as described above, the only difference is that you now have to pick up the phone, choose ‘real estate’ and then ‘purchase community lot’. Useful  cheat You can give your employees badges with the Boolprop code! This is very useful if you don’t want to have a dummy at the cash register. Type in the cheat window boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Now go to your employees (one at a time) and hold shift whilst clicking on you employee. Choose ‘make selectable’. Now you have made your employee selectable and you can see his/her avatar at your simsfamily. Now make sure you have the green plumbob above your employee (that you selected her/him). Hold shift again whilst clicking on your employee, search for ‘spawn’ and then ‘badgejuicer’. Now you see a toy boat near your Sim. Click on the boat and give your employee the badge you desire. You only have to get the boat once, but you can repeat ‘make selectable’ for each employee. If you are finished giving badges, you can make the Sim unselectable again. You can also spawn a reporter with the badgejuicer. He/she will look at your shop and will write a good or bad report. Good reports are vital for your shop, if you get a bad report your costumers will not come anymore. Click on the toy boat and choose ‘spawn reporter’. Now, within a few moments, a reporter will come (recognizable by the notepad he/she’s writing on). You have to treat the reporter like he/she’s your best friend, then you have a better chance on getting a good review.
