Sometimes the computer crashes for unexplainable reasons.
To save you the trouble to re-install all the Sims-packs, here is an empty backup that brings you game back to the point before you ever played it.
I suggest you first make a backup of your existing game - see backup - and try the folders one by one.
Folders for backup are:
Downloads
GameData
UserData upto and included UserData 8
Instructions:
1. Create a new folder "Empty Download"
2. Download parts 1 - 4 (see below) and select Save in your new folder "Empty Download"
3. When you finished downloading all the parts, rightclick on part1 and select Extract to:
4. Select your new folder
5. The parts 1-4 will now be extracted to Empty Download
Test your program every time until it starts correctly:
1. Try first by copying the folder Downloads to \Program Files\Maxis\The Sims and restart your game. (if that does the trick, you only lost your internet-downloads).
2. Then try the same with the folder GameData
3. Then Userdata
4. Then UserData2 aso, aso.
